In a commencement address to incoming students of DM Harish School of Law, HSNC University, Mumbai, Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Founder, NHSMRE & Provost, HSNC University, Mumbai.; Founder & MD - Hiranandani Group; Chairman, National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), highlighted various qualities of a successful entrepreneur and shared his views on the emerging scenario in India for the next decade..The interactive session titled ‘The Success Mantra’ was peppered with several inspiring personal anecdotes from the visionary leader..Earlier, during her one-to-one interaction with DMHSL students, Dr. Hemlata K Bagla, Vice Chancellor, HSNC University, posed several thought-provoking questions - What is your priority in life? What is your most important resource? She pointed out that ‘you’ are the most important resource. She explained that time, money and health are three key elements that play a crucial role in our lives at all stages..She highlighted that DMHSL is incorporating all the emerging subjects in the curriculum in order to adapt to changing times and technologies while focusing on understanding the latest trends in crimes, investigation and evidence. She added that the three new enactments i.e. Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023; computer education, Blockchains, Electronic-discovery, Cyber Security, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Bio-ethics will be integrated in the course curriculum to keep up with the dynamic nature of legal practice and emerging global trends. She also shared plans to actively involve DMHSL students in critical and interdisciplinary thinking, research and collaboration across disciplines to develop a comprehensive approach to address legal challenges, so as to align with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.."Build relationships, hone your skills and use your time wisely. Your five years here will lay the foundation for your future. Network actively, explore different facets of law and always stay true to your core values. Your journey in law school is a chance to shape your career and make a meaningful impact on society," Dr. Bagla advised students while emphasising the importance of mental health..In a free-wheeling conversation with DMHSL students, Dr. Hiranandani discussed his journey, the challenges he overcame and his commitment to continuous improvement, sustainability and ethical values. He also emphasised the importance of integrity, customer-centric design and giving back to society through social initiatives. "No matter how successful you become, staying humble is key," he said..Dr. Hiranandani cited several examples, from late President APJ Abdul Kalam who rose from his humble beginnings as a newspaper delivery boy to become an aerospace scientist and a great Statesman; Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan who went through a difficult time in the late 90’s when his company went bankrupt and he had a debt of ₹90 crore and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s journey from being a humble ‘chaiwala’ to becoming the country’s ‘pradhan sevak’..“Those who dare to imagine the impossible are the ones who break all the human limitations… By breaking the limits of their imagination, they change the world,” he stressed while highlighting Dr. Bagla’s inspiring example of sterling leadership, remarkable contribution and significant impact at HSNC University, Mumbai. Dr Bagla has been pivotal in establishing seven schools within HSNC University, spanning diverse fields including law, management & real estate, applied sciences, performing arts, yoga & wellness, applied sciences and inter-disciplinary studies..“Every challenge is an opportunity. A leader has to be realistic, look at the bigger picture and figure out how best to deal with the challenges,” Dr. Hiranandani explained..He stressed on the importance of always being open to new ideas and perspectives, listening and learning from others as a lifelong student and transcending personal biases and prejudices. He urged students to focus on learning one skill a day and to improve oneself a little everyday. He explained to students to maintain persistence and consistency in all their endeavours..He stressed on the mantra of having a life mentor with whom one can discuss problems and challenges. The session concluded with Q&A.
