The Centre for Mediation and Research at Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Mumbai is organizing a 'Two Day Advanced Training Program in Mediation' in May 2025 at their campus in Powai, Mumbai.

The Centre for Mediation and Research has run several courses for certification in Mediation, Conciliation, Conflict Resolution and Collaborative Dispute Resolution since its inception in 2019.

The two-day mediation training programme is being held to equip students and working professionals with an array of skills and expertise in the world of mediation.

Regardless of one’s professional calling, mediation can be a significant game changer in dealing with legal issues, ensuring interest of both the parties in the dispute alongside providing a swifter dispute resolution mechanism.

The training program is meant to bolster the participants' social and professional standings and make them more valuable personnel to the organization and brands they represent.

The program has been designed by a highly skilled resource person, making the structure highly professional. It will touch upon key aspects of mediation, conflict management, and resolution.

Although participants are expected to know the basics of the mediation process for a smooth understanding of the session, no specialized course or practice is required to be undertaken to attend this program.

About the Resource Person

Prathamesh D Popat, senior trainer and empanelled mediator at the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) will be the resource person for the training program.

He started his practice as a counsel at the Bombay High Court in the Chambers of Senior Counsel Aspandiar P Chinoy after being admitted to the Bar in 1991. While initially appearing only in courts and tribunals, his practice has become more focused on ADR mechanisms. He has been appointed as Arbitrator in Ad Hoc as well as Institutional Arbitrations, either as Sole Arbitrator or as a member of an Arbitral Tribunal.

He has attended several mediation trainings and related events in India, including those organized by the Indian Merchants’ Chamber and the Bombay High Court. He proceeded to Europe in 2003 and thereafter to Australia for further advanced trainings in mediation.

He received accreditation as a Mediator from LEADR, Australia in 2007 and was later on certified as a Mediator by the IMI.
