Law Firm Ready (LFR) is inviting applications for a six-week long mentorship and skill-building programme until January 15, 2025.
Inspired by Prof Madhava Menon's vision to make law schools enablers of social engineers, the programme is also a gateway to a community that prioritises guidance on mental well-being, encourages peer learning, and exposes students to emerging careers in law.
LFR was founded by Rohit Sharma, an alumnus of WBNUJS Kolkata and former associate at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. He is currently a Graduate Research Fellow at Lakshmi Mittal South Asian Institute, Harvard University. During his law school days, he was a Team Leader of the IDIA West Bengal Chapter (2017-18). He has worked with the late Prof Shamnad Basheer on writ petitions to introduce reforms in law entrance exams.
The mentorship programme provides one-on-one guidance to law students by pairing students with a top legal professional from the student's area of interest for a duration of six weeks. Additionally, LFR organises weekly sessions to further supplement learning and development in the following:
CV and Cover Letter drafting: Learn basics of building your internship application from renowned speakers.
Introduction to General Corporate and M&A: LFR helps students understand the concepts of General Corporate, Private Equity and Mergers & Acquisitions.
Introduction to Disputes, Litigation and ADR: The session will expose students to the vast arena of litigation, arbitration, firm practice areas and alternative dispute resolutions.
Emerging careers after law: During this session, discover the vast array of career opportunities available to you beyond conventional paths like litigation and corporate law.
AI Tools for Lawyers: LFR will teach law students on how AI can bridge language barriers, improve drafting and connect lawyers with the best minds, helping them unlock its full potential.
Navigating law school & building a support network: This session is an open space for law students to share, be heard, and co-learn as LFR address challenges like career anxiety, relationships and confidence.
Mentees can ask their mentors questions related to law school life, careers or other concerns.
