
The Hidyatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur through its Centre for WIPO and WTO Studies, in collaboration with the UNCITRAL Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RCAP) will be hosting an international symposium on Global Trade Dynamics: Digital Economy and the Rule of Law on December 6, 2024.
The symposium will be held in online mode and is being organised under the banner of UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Days 2024.
The UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Days, first launched in 2014, is an annual flagship academic series commemorating the December 1966 General Assembly resolution establishing the United Nations Commission On International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
The symposium will host professionals and experts in the field, including Athita Komindr, Head, UNCITRAL RCAP; Prof. (Dr.) James J Nedumpara, Professor and Head, Centre for Trade and Investment Law, IIFT; Prof. (Dr.) Raj Bhala, Brenneisen distinguished Professor, University of Kansas School of Law; and Dr. Ajai Garg, Head, Digital Tech and Law, Anand & Anand, Delhi.
HNLU's Vice Chancellor Prof. VC Vivekanandan will address the inaugural and valedictory sessions.
The symposium will delve on a deeper understanding of global trade dynamics and the digital economy.
A panel discussion on 'E-Governance and the Rule of Law: Strengthening Legal Infrastructure for Digital Transformation in the Asian Pacific' has been planned to explore the critical role of legal frameworks in driving digital growth and development.
The panel of experts spearheading the discussion include Luca Castellani, UNCITRAL Legal Officer, Vienna; Prof. (Dr.) Prabhash Ranjan, Professor, Jindal Global Law School, India; Priyanka Kishore, Director and Principal Economist, Asia Decoded, Singapore; Amreen Taneja, Standards and Digital Policy Lead, Digital Goods Alliance, UNICEF France; Pallavi Bajaj, Senior Legal Consultant, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India; and Dr. Jiankun Li, Assistant Professor and Master’s Supervisor, International Law School, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing.
HNLU has opened the symposium to all practitioners, academics, students, and researchers interested in International Trade Law free of cost to register by December 5, 2024, until 5 PM.
